The Life of Walter Douglas Roughton

The biography of a young man from a wealthy middle-class family in England, who fought in the Anglo-Boer War, and then settled in South Africa. He also fought in both World Wars. He farmed in the Eastern Cape, and was involved in charitable organisations: the Red Cross, the South African Legion and the Prince Alfred’s Guard. He was introduced when King George VI was the Prince of Wales and then later as King. The interesting biography was commissioned by Wendy van Schalkwyk.
